Huntington — Car show slated for weekend

HUNTINGTON Cruzin on the Plaza will be Friday through Sunday at Pullman Plaza.

Registration will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

The General Lee will be on display and actor Allan Morris, known as Ernest T. Bass from “The Andy Griffith Show,” will make an appearance.

A live concert with The Esquires will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday.

A portion of the proceeds from the event will be donated to West Virginia Senior Sports Classic.

Students take part in Lawrence event

LOUISA Twenty students from Greenup County area schools participated in the District 4-H Communications Day on May 11 at Louisa Middle School.

Those participating had placed first or second in their demonstration categories at the Greenup County competition  in March.

Those who earned first place in each category will move on to State 4-H Communications Day, slated for July 13 in Lexington. If first-place winners cannot attend the July 13 competition, then second-place winners will advance.

Girls’ Night Out upcoming

ASHLAND The Boyd County Public Library will host its monthly Girls’ Night Out program on May 29 with a showing of the movie “Parental Guidance” at 5:30 p.m. at the main branch at 1740 Central Ave.

Admission is $2, or bring a food item to share. All money collected will be used to purchase pizza and other refreshments.
