A man suspected in a shooting incident in Scioto County was apprehended Tuesday night on the Northeastern Kentucky Industrial Parkway in Greenup County.
Scott A. Wilson, 22, of Ft. Bragg, N.C., pulled his vehicle over to the side of the road and surrendered after he saw sheriff’s deputies’ cruisers closing in on him, Greenup County Sheriff Keith Cooper said.
Wilson was booked on Kentucky charges of marijuana and controlled-substance possession, Cooper said. Additional charges are expected to be filed in Ohio as a result of the shooting incident, which occurred about 8 p.m. in a vehicle on Harding Avenue in Sciotoville.
According to Ohio authorities, Wilson, another man and a woman were all inside the car and a struggle broke out over a weapon between the two men. The gun went off and the woman was hit by the round.
The woman was released after treatment at a local hospital for what police described as a minor injury.
Wilson fled to Kentucky following the incident. Deputies had been notified to attempt to locate him, Cooper said.
Wilson was lodged in the Greenup County Detention Center. He was arraigned Wednesday morning in Greenup District Court and his bond was set at $50,000.
