Miss Ashland Area entrants sought

ASHLAND —  Applications are still being accepted for the 2012 Miss Ashland Area Scholarship Pageant, an official Miss America Preliminary.

The pageant will be Saturday at the Raceland Cultural Center.  The teen division is open to girls ages 13 to 16, who will compete in interview, evening wear, fitness and talent. The Miss division is for those ages 17 to 24.  Entrants for the Teen Miss Ashland Area and Miss Ashland area may be from Boyd, Greenup, Carter or Lawrence counties.  

A new title of Miss Goldenrod will be made up entrants statewide. The Miss division consists of interview, talent, swimsuit, evening wear and onstage question. Winners will receive college scholarships and other gifts.

Entries must be submitted to Miss Ashland Pageant, P.O. Box 775, Ashland, KY, 41105-0775 .

     One minor injury was reported after a passenger car collided with an ambulance at the intersection in front of the Paramount Arts Center on Winchester Avenue around 10 a.m. Tuesday. Independent videographer Adam Black witnessed the accident and reported the ambulance was traveling south of Winchester with lights on and siren activated when it was struck in the rear quarter panel by a passenger vehicle that had a green light for the intersection and failed to yield for the emergency vehicle.
