Two arrested in Russell

RUSSELL Two men were arrested in Russell on drug and other charges on Wednesday.

Officers with the FADE Drug Task Force and Russell Police Department executed a search warrant at the Beech Street residence of Hobert Gearhart, 50. A large amount of marijuana was found, police said.

While police were at the house, Todd R. Bradley, 53, of Fayetteville, Ohio, showed up there and was arrested after being questioned.

Gearhart was charged with first-degree drug trafficking, trafficking in marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bradley was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both suspects were lodged in the Greenup County Detention Center, where they remained Thursday.

Two injured in parkway wreck

ARGILLITE Two women were injured in a one-vehicle accident Tuesday at the Ky. 207 interchange of the Northeastern Kentucky Industrial Parkway.

Tabitha N. Graff, 34, and Amme R. Harper, 32, both of Shelbyville, were flown to Cabell Huntington Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries following the wreck at 2:30 p.m., Kentucky State Police at Ashland said.

According to the KSP, Graff was sounthbound on the parkway when she lost control of her vehicle, which went onto the southbound shoulder of the roadway, entered a grassy area, struck an embankment and overturned.

Graff and Harper were wearing seat belts, the KSP said. The accident resulted in the parkway being closed for about an hour.

Woman hurt avoiding pothole

MOREHEAD An Elliott County woman was injured Wednesday when she wrecked her vehicle after swerving to avoid a pothole.

Juanita Greene, 78, of Sandy Hook, was traveling southbound on Ky. 173 when the accident happened at 2:55 p.m., Kentucky State Police at Morehead said.

After swerving to miss the pothole, Greene veered into the northbound lane, where she encountered an oncoming vehicle. To avoid a collision, she veered off the southbound shoulder of the road. Her vehicle struck a road sign and a fence and then plunged over an embankment, the KSP said.

Greene was taken to St. Claire Regional Medical Center with nonlife-threatening injuries, the KSP said.
