Flatwoods man charged with assaulting father

ASHLAND — The following information was taken from Ashland Police Department reports:

Assault

‰A Greenup County man was arrested Thursday on felony charges after he allegedly attacked his father with a knife, then damaged the prisoner compartment of a police cruiser as he was being transported to jail.

Scott A. Arthur, 22, of Flatwoods, was lodged in the Boyd County Detention Center on charges of second-degree assault and first-degree criminal mischief. Police also charged him with alcohol intoxication and second-degree disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors.

The incident occurred about 2:40 a.m. in the 400 block of 31st Street. Arthur’s father was injured in the attack, but the severity of his injuries were not immediately known.

‰A 52-year-old man was arrested on a misdemeanor assault charge Thursday night for allegedly slapping his wife in the face during a domestic dispute in the 1600 block of Blackburn Avenue.

Theft

‰Smart Style, located inside Walmart, on Wednesday reported the theft of a bank deposit totaling $439.52.

‰An employee of the Lexington Avenue Speedway on Thursday reported a man stole her wallet and her smart phone from her unlocked vehicle, then fled on foot.

Burglary

‰A resident of the 4800 block of Blackburn Avenue recently reported a camcorder, a camera, a safe containing personal papers, jewelry and $50 cash were stolen in a break-in.

Shoplifting

‰A 33-year-old Portsmouth man was arrested Thursday at Walmart for allegedly attempting to steal merchandise valued at $339.72.
