Ironton Artists Association will host its 39th annual Fall Art Exhibit Oct. 5 at Central Christian Church, 1541 S. 7th St.
Registration is from 9 to 11:30 a.m. with judging at noon. Awards ceremony will be at 2:30 p.m. Art may be removed at 3 p.m. following the awards ceremony.
There is no admission fee.
Entry fee for adults is $20 for five pieces of art and $5 for each additional piece. Artists 18 and younger may participate in categories for students grades K through 6 and grades 7 through 12. Children's entries will be at $3 per piece of art. Entries must be framed and wired; no saw toothed hangers are permitted (for safety and security of the framed art.) Exhibitors are asked to provide easels for hanging of their art. Hanging support will be provided for miniature entries, for which easels are not required.
Oil/thick acrylics; watercolor/thin acrylics; drawingmMedia (pastel, pen and ink, charcoal, and colored pencil); mixed media, collage and encaustic; photography; children (younger than 18); special category — miniatures (sizes 5" X 5" or 4" X 6" image size maximum; with frame size no larger than 7" X 8."
This year’s judge is Huntington artist and retired art teacher Leona Mackey. She has taught at Marshall University and Huntington High and currently has her art on display at the Renaissance, Tamarack and Heritage.
Best of Show entries chosen by the Judge in both fine arts and photography will each receive a $100 cash award. There will be cash prizes for each of the five first place entries for adults. Each of the children’s categories chosen for first place will receive a cash prize in addition to their ribbons.
Entries must be suitable for family viewing. IAA members will be available to assist exhibiting artists with hanging of their art or other questions.
