Another new technology is upgrading local church services.
Strong Tower Worship Center in Catlettsburg is the first local church to participate in Revival Wired, a live, interactive church service, at 11 a.m. Sunday. Churches from several locations in the United States and in Canada, Finland and The Netherlands also will participate.
Led by World Revival Church in Kansas City and its senior pastor, Steven Gray, the service allows churches, regardless of their location, to participate in worship, offering and sermons with several churches leading portions of the service.
Bruce Pickard, pastor of Strong Tower Worship Center, said the online service, which can only be seen at his church will replace the regular service this Sunday. He said the public can hook up to live streaming for Thursday, Friday and Saturday services at WRC.com.
He said his church might participate in the service in a more active way.
“This depends on what pastors Steve and Kathy Gray decide,” he said. “We have done exhortations several times and there are times when we will be in charge of a brief tithe and offering message or special singing.” He said his church participates about every third Sunday of the month.
“We also have services the rest of the time as well,” he said, noting his wife also is a leader in the church. “We have had series on Sunday nights that have included anger management, relationships, parenting and inner healing as well as a number of other insightful teachings that will help those who are looking for help.”
He said he supports the idea of bring together churches worldwide.
“I think congregations are encouraged, like ours is, to be a part of these services with people of like faith in Europe and the UK. Knowing that there are others all over the world who worship the Lord in the same way that we do makes us feel closer to those we are worshiping with,” Pickard said. “The dynamic preaching of Pastor Steve & Kathy Gray is helping change our congregation with their direction and desire for revival.”
In a statement about the online service, Gray said he goal was to make church more interactive on a much wider basis.
“Unique to this interactive connection is the relationship the churches share. There’s no denominational, legal or financial connection,” Gray said. “The result is an increased unity across denominational and cultural lines, along with more energy and a feeling of encouragement as local church members connect worldwide.”
