WESTWOOD — Undercover buy leads to arrest

WESTWOOD - A drug buy by an informant working for the Boyd County Sheriff’s Department led to the arrest of a Westwood man on Wednesday.

Darrin L. Stafford, 47, of the 900 block of Wheatley Road, was lodged in the Boyd County Detention Center, charged with first-degree drug trafficking, the sheriff’s department said.

Following the buy, deputies served a search warrant at Stafford’s residence. The search turned up oxycodone, other narcotics and a large amount of cash.

AARF fundraisers, adoptions set

RUSSELL - The Ashland Animal Rescue Fund will have an adoption event 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Tractor Supply.

A variety of pets will be there, available for adoption.

AARF also will accept donations of Purina Dog and Puppy Chow, Purina Cat and Kitten Chow, leashes, cleaning supplies, gently used linens, paper towels, detergent and Dawn dishwashing liquid.

Another AARF fundraiser, Fur Ball 2013, is scheduled for 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday at the Ashland Transportation Building, 99 15th St. Admission is $20. There will be music, food and raffles.
