Man charged in strong-armed robbery

ASHLAND — The following information was taken from Ashland Police Department reports:

Robbery

‰A man arrested Thursday for allegedly robbing a woman told police he committed the crime because he was “drunk, homeless and needed money.”

Robert D. Halley, 45, was charged with second-degree robbery and alcohol intoxication, which occurred about 10:30 p.m. in the 2100 block of Carter Avenue.

According to the APD, Halley grabbed the victim from behind by the throat and pulled her to the ground. However, a witness intervened and was able to detain Halley until officers arrived.

Halley was lodged in the Boyd County Detention Center.

Theft

‰A man on Wednesday reported his work laptop computer was stolen the previous Wednesday while he was attending church services at Christian Faith Outreach United, 2700 Herman Ave.

The victim told police he left the computer, which contained patient information, in a pew and it was gone when he went to retrieve it.

‰Donatos Pizza, 713 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., on Thursday reported the theft of $525 cash.
