GREENUP — Man arraigned on porn charges

GREENUP A former Flatwoods resident charged with 1,000 counts of possessing child pornography was arraigned Friday in Greenup District Court.

Judge Brian McCloud set James K. Raasch’s bond at $500,000 and set a preliminary hearing in the case for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Raasch, 71, was arrested last month in Clearwater, Fla., where he’d recently moved, after large caches of child pornography were found in his former residence in Flatwoods and in a storage unit he’d rented, Kentucky State Police at Ashland said.

Raasch was extradited from Florida on Wednesday and lodged in the Greenup County Detention Center.

Raasch could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison if he is convicted.
