APD investigating rape

ASHLAND — Ashland police are investigating a reported rape. A relative of the victim reported last week a named suspect had sexual contact with the victim, who has a mental disability. The alleged rape occurred between Aug. 22 and Sept. 13.  

The following information was taken from Ashland Police Department reports:


‰A resident of the 3000 block of Simpson Road reported Friday her apartment was broken into and property valued at $1,855 was stolen. Taken items include a Smith and Wesson model semiautomatic handgun, a DVD player and 100 DVDs.

Auto theft

 ‰A man living in the 2900 block of Blackburn Avenue reported a Garmin GPS was stolen from his unlocked vehicle Friday.


‰An Ashland man was arrested Friday for attempting to steal merchandise valued at $11.92 from Walmart.

‰A man reported Friday his dart set valued at more than $1,000 was stolen.

‰A man was arrested at Kroger on Saturday for attempting to steal merchandise valued at $89.69.

‰Two women living in two separate residences in the 2600 block of Lincoln Avenue reported the theft of ladders on Saturday. Two aluminum ladders valued at $200 were taken from outside one woman’s home overnight. The second woman reported a metal ladder valued at $75 was stolen from her back yard overnight.

‰A man living in the 2200 block of Hilton Avenue reported his cellphone, valued at $50, was stolen from his residence. It was found on a woman, who was arrested on other charges.

‰Hilltop Vending reported Friday one of their vending machines in the 3700 block of Landsdowne Spur was broken into and the contents of snacks and sodas stolen.


‰Police arrested an Ironton man on Saturday in the 500 block of 29th Street after he was found to be in possession of synthetic marijuana. He is also charged with trafficking the substance.

‰Police have charged an Ironton woman with possession of marijuana after arresting her on an unrelated warrant on Saturday.

‰A man was arrested Saturday evening and charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after police observed him running a red light at 18th Street and Winchester Avenue. The man was also ticketed for disregarding a traffic control device, failure to maintain insurance and having no registration plates or a registration receipt.
