Motorists should expect road and lane closures this week on several state highways in Carter, Greenup and Boyd counties, including:
‰Part of Ky. 182 (Grahn Road) in Carter County will be closed today from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day for embankment repairs between U.S. 60 and Goose Creek Road. Rain could cause the work, and closures, to extend into Wednesday or later.
All through motorists should watch signs, and detour using Ky. 3298 or local routes to reach Grahn and other destinations.
‰A bridge on Ky. 1626 in Carter County near Globe at milepoint 3.6 will be closed Wednesday for bridge deck repairs.
All through traffic should use Ky. 174 and Ky. 3296 to detour.
‰Continuing through the end of September, contractors are making slide repairs on Whetstone Road (Ky. 3307) in Greenup County at mile marker 3.2, which is between Whetstone Creek Road and Treasure Cove Road.
Motorists should watch for one-lane traffic controlled by flaggers or temporary signals during daytime working hours.
‰In Ashland, night paving continues along U.S. 60-13th Street outbound from near Blackburn Avenue to Rose Hill, as well as along Winchester Avenue (U.S. 23) between the Greenup Avenue splits north and south.
Motorists should watch for lane closures and one-lane traffic between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m.
‰Also in Ashland, contractors have scheduled required safety inspections of the Ohio River bridges downtown through Sept. 26.
The work will require daily lane closures of 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the 13th Street bridge, which carries traffic across the river to Ohio, and 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the 12th Street bridge, which carries traffic from Ohio to Kentucky.
