SANDY HOOK — Sarah’s Place officially opened the new Child Development Center/Job Skills Center on Saturday.

Musicians from Sts. John and Elizabeth in Grayson performed, visitors nibbled on goodies provided by CDC parents and friends of Sarah’s Place and tours were given.

There are four classrooms for children: Infant Room, Toddler Room, Three-year-old Room and Four-Year-Old Room. The facility has two offices, a large multipurpose room, a computer lab and kitchen/pantry area. The building is “green” and built with the latest technology to ensure comfort and economy of operation.

The facility has Wi-Fi, and the new laptops are wireless, allowing staff and children the best access possible for their activities.

Future plans include a children’s vegetable garden, new equipment for the fenced-in playground and more parking for parents, staff and visitors.

The building is on Ky. 7 South, about 31⁄2 miles from the center of Sandy Hook, in the same complex as the Farmers Market Pavilion, the Soil Conservation Office, the extension office and the soccer field.
