ASHLAND — The Ashland Town Center will reach a 25-year milestone with this year’s Magical Night of Giving charity event that expects to raise thousands for local charities.

Each year, Magical Night of Giving offers money to local charities by providing the extended business of shoppers looking to get a headstart on holiday purchases. In doing so, a portion of profits made from special deals that night is donated to philanthropy.

This year’s event kicks off at 6:30 p.m. Sunday and will last until 9:30 p.m. The mall will close their doors to the general public at 6 p.m., only re-opening at 6:30 for ticket-holders who can then capitalize on special holiday sales.

A comprehensive list of discounts, entertainment and prizes will be listed both on the Town Center website and in a program available at the door upon entry to the event.

The door prizes for ticket-holders will include two Las Vegas vacations (valued at $500 each), a flat screen television, a $1,000 Ashland Town Center gift card, as well as other variable prizes from mall retailers and event sponsors.

Jaime Bloss, marketing director for the mall, said in a press release, “Magical Night of Giving allows us a chance to support a multitude of not-for-profit organizations with one event. Each year, it grows bigger and better than the previous year.”

Last year, the mall estimated the event garnered nearly $26,000 for local charities, according to a press release.

Tickets for Magical Night are currently available through Guest Services in the Town Center, as well as through the many charity organizations in the Tri-State. Prices are $5 for adults and free to all children under age 12 attending with an adult ticket-holder.

Every year, the Magical Night of Giving serves as the unofficial start to the holiday season.

The Winter Wonderland of Lights opening ceremony will be at 6 p.m. Monday at the Bandstand in Central Park. The lights around the park will be on display from Monday through Jan. 5 from dusk until 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and dusk to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

The Winter Wonderland’s annual Christmas Parade, with a theme of “Silver Bells,” will be Nov. 26 with Jule Huffman, also known as “Mr. Cartoon,” serving as the grand marshal.
