King’s Daughters Home Medical Equipment is partnering with The Dressing Room to help students, new grads and others entering the medical field to get the uniforms they need at no cost. KDHME is conducting a scrubs drive, collecting new and gently used scrubs to be donated to The Dressing Room, which provides clothing at no cost to individuals in need.
The drive is going on now through Dec. 31. All medical professionals who donate scrubs will receive an additional 10 percent off purchases, including scrubs, at King’s Daughters Home Medical Equipment.
“Uniforms can be a major expense for anyone starting a job, in any field,” said Jaime Martinez, King’s Daughters Home Medical Equipment director. “But if you’re a new grad, or someone who has just finished re-training after months of unemployment, the cost of uniforms can be a real obstacle.”
Scrubs of all types and colors are welcome. However, scrubs that are marked “Property of ….” cannot be accepted. Scrubs must be clean and in good condition, free of holes and frayed hems.
“Ultimately, our goal is to make it easier for people in difficult financial circumstances to be able to get the scrub uniforms they need to do the job, be successful and advance in their careers,” said Martinez.
Scrubs can be dropped off at the KDHME store, 1700 Winchester Ave. The store is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information about the drive, call (606) 408-9690.
