Those interested in learning more about selling goods at this year’s Ironton Farmers Market are encouraged to attend a Thursday meeting designed to answer potential vendors’ questions.
Market manager Sam Heighton said the meeting is set for 5 p.m. Thursday at the Ironton City Center at 301 S. Third St. Heighton said the meeting will be for those who participated last year, as well as newcomers.
“We welcome new vendors and farmers. We were pretty full by the end last year, but we always have room for more,” he said. “I am also inviting anyone that would like to sell at the market next season. We will be discussing last year’s market, which was very successful, but we’re always ready to improve.”
Health department officials will be at the meeting to discuss rules for vendors, as well as topics including labeling requirements.
Heighton said market organizers also hope to hear from those who might want to bring a little extra flavor to events, seeking performers to put on a show every other weekend.
“If you play an instrument, sing, tap dance ... mimes, anything,” he said. “We had some great entertainment last season, too, and hope to expand in that area. Anyone interested in being part of the entertainment this year should also attend. Anyone in the Tri-State who does or is interested in street performing will be considered.”
Heighton said the market is an exciting project with excellent prospects,
“We have a great group of sellers and a great location,” he said. “I believe Ironton is a special place and more and more folks are agreeing.”
The market is a project of Ironton aLive and will be sponsored again this year by Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
