ASHLAND — Boyd County sheriff's deputies on Wednesday arrested an Ashland woman for allegedly trafficking in heroin.
Thelma K. Wawi, 50, of the 200 block of Lee Street, was lodged in the Boyd County Detention Center, charged with first-degree drug trafficking, first- and third-degree drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a news release from the sheriff's department.
Undercover deputies with the sheriff's department's Drug Task Force purchased heroin from Wawi at her residence earlier in the day Wednesday, according to the release. Deputies returned later with a search warrant. The search turned up heroin, other drugs, cash and drug parphernalia.
