St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in the area will include a Friday evening dinner at Rock Springs Winery & Vineyard in Carter County, a celebration from afternoon into evening Saturday at Ashland’s Chimney Corner Café and another on Sunday at The Lamp Post in Ashland.
The menu for the winery’s holiday event includes Dublin Dip with pita chips, wedge salad with ranch dressing, Pesto Chicken with alfredo sauce and a vegetable medley and chocolate Guinness cake. The meal is $35 a person and includes a wine-tasting and glass of wine. Wine-tastings begin at 6:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Attendees must call (606) 923-9085 by noon today for reservations.
The annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration at Chimney Corner at 1624 Carter Ave. will feature a menu with corned beef and cabbage, reuben sandwiches, Irish stew and traditional dessert from 4 p.m. to midnight Saturday. Entertainment for the evening will be provided by Sister Reddenhair.
Shane Fields at The Lamp Post at the corner of 15th Street and Greenup Avenue said the eatery will offer a 10 percent discount to any diner who arrives wearing all-green clothing.
“We are going to celebrate the reuben. It’s going to be our Sunday special,” Fields said.
CCC Trail Vineyard Cafe at 1537 Winchester Ave. is offering a St. Patrick’s Day menu, including St. Paddie’s Benedictine Spread, Irish Potato Soup and a traditional reuben sandwich on rye bread with Swiss cheese and Thousand Island dressing throughout the month. The recently reopened café serves lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
