Traffic lane changes made downtown

Staff report

ASHLAND — At the request of the Ashland Police Department and to help reduce the risk of crashes, the Kentucky Department of Highways has made traffic lane changes at 13th Street and Winchester Avenue in downtown Ashland.

Motorists approaching the intersection along 13th Street should use the far right lane only to access the alley adjacent to the Simeon Willis Bridge or to turn right onto Winchester Avenue. A solid white stripe has been added to the pavement on Winchester Avenue to denote the new traffic routing.

Other lanes on 13th Street will continue to carry traffic across the bridge or left onto Winchester Avenue, and should not be used to reach the alley.

Also, because of potential conflicts with alley traffic, vehicles approaching the intersection on Winchester Avenue are no longer allowed to make right turns on red from the street onto the Simeon Willis Bridge.
