IRONTON — Ironton was bustling again for the nation’s longest running Memorial Day Parade this morning.
Despite bridge problems getting back into Kentucky – the Ben Williamson Memorial Bridge remains closed because of damage - a typically large crowd attended the parade through the streets of Ironton.
The 145th annual Ironton-Lawrence County Memorial Day Parade was long and colorful, as usual, with thousands of patrons lining the streets and applauding on a nearly picture-perfect Monday morning.
Veterans were applauded and local bands marched and dance through the streets.
Terry Hapney and J.B. Miller, co-anchors for the Memorial Day parade, continued their tradition by serving as commentators for the parade broadcast on OK-TV Channel 25 on Time-Warner Cable for the 15th year in a row.
