RUSSELL — Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital has been selected as one of the charitable organizations to receive Christmas toys to distribute to children from the The Greenbrier resort’s “Create a Dream Tree for Kids” holiday gift drive.

OLBH will receive 200 gifts to distribute at the hospital’s annual Christmas party for underprivileged children. More than 100 charitable organizations traveled to The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., on Thursday to receive a total of more than 34,500 gifts. This marks the second year for The Greenbrier’s drive, which will donate more than $1 million in toys to charity.

“Last year’s Dream Tree was such an amazing success that we knew we had to do it even bigger and better this year,” said Jim Justice, owner of The Greenbrier. “We believe that giving back to our community goes to the core of what The Greenbrier represents and is in keeping with our rich history.”

Gifts donated from the gift drive included oversized stuffed animals, Hello Kitty puzzles, WOW Toys and tabletop art easels. Representatives from OLBH previously traveled to The Greenbrier to assist with gift wrapping.

“We are honored to have been chosen to participate in this wonderful mission from an institution as revered as The Greenbrier,” said Chuck Charles, vice president of the OLBH Foundation. “The toys we receive will go to brighten the Christmas of boys and girls in our area, and we’re thankful to The Greenbrier for aiding us in this endeavor.”
