Book signing at Carter library
Local author Daryl Skaggs will be at the Carter County Public Library at 6 p.m. Dec. 6 to promote his book, “Be Safe and Keep Your Powder Dry.”
Skaggs will sign copies of the book, which is about his ancestor, Henry “Long Hunter” Skaggs, and copies will be available for purchase.
The library is at 115 Mills St.
Open house at Carter Caves
Carter Caves State Resort Park will have its Carter County Christmas open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 9. Children may meet Santa and Mrs. Claus and Carter County Library director Nellie Jordan will read Christmas stories.
Dulcimers at Greenbo set
The Rail City Dulcimer Society will present “A Dulcimer Christmas” at 6 p.m. Dec. 7 at Greenbo Lake State Resort Park.
The program will be at the Jesse Stuart Lodge and will include performances by the Rail City group, the Tri-State Dulcimer Society and Neil Koch. The performances are all public and free.
Library flicks set for December
Boyd County Public Library will have its monthly Girls’ Night Out Wednesday, showing “Madea’s Witness Protection” at 5:30 p.m. at the main branch.
The Cannonsburg branch will host a free showing of “The Polar Express” on Dec. 1.
Admission for the Girls’ night movie is $2 or a food item to share. All money collected will be used to buy pizza and other refreshments.
The Polar Express event is free; it starts at 2 p.m. with games, crafts and snacks and the movie begins at 2:30 p.m. Children may wear pajamas.
Girls’ Night Out is the last Wednesday of the month; men are welcome, but the program usually includes movies that are not appropriate for children. The December feature is “Sparkle.”
