OLIVE HILL — FADE board to meet Tuesday

OLIVEā€ˆHILL - The FADE Task Force board will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Olive Hill Senior Citizen Building. Requirements for the new JAG Grant 2013-14 will be discussed. The Olive Hill Police Department will host the meeting.

Library sponsors valentine project

ASHLAND - U.S. soldiers serving abroad and residents of local nursing homes will receive handmake Valentine’s Day cards as part of the ninth annual Hands that Touch a Heart campaign.

Children trace their hands on the card and then decorate it any way they wish, and add their name and a personal message. All ages are welcome to make a card.

Children and others helped the Boyd County Public Library deliver more than 2,000 cards last year.

Supplies will be on hand at the main and Kyova branches Monday through Friday.

Tax business opening office

ASHLAND - Liberty Tax Service will open a new office next week at 1205 Montgomery Ave., Suite 2.

The office will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. during tax season. There will be a grand opening on Wednesday.

The office will employ about 20 tax preparers, marketers and other staff for the tax season.

WSAZ leading TV markets in area

HUNTINGTON - WSAZ NewsChannel 3 has announced it showed significant growth in every daypart in the November ratings period, and has increased its lead over competing television stations in the region, according to Nielsen Media Research.  

Nielsen is the only ratings research company universally recognized by the television industry.

Pikeville hospital receives award

PIKEVILLE - Pikeville Medical Center has received the Women’s Choice Award from WomenCertified, distinguishing it as one of the 2013 Best Hospitals for Patient Experience in Obstetrics.

The award is based on criteria such as female patient satisfaction measurements and clinical excellence.
