Man killed in industrial parkway accident

ARGILLITE — A Greenup County man was killed Wednesday in a two-vehicle crash on the Northeastern Kentucky Industrial Parkway in Greenup County.

The accident occurred about 12:50 p.m. at the junction of Turkey Lick Road and the parkway, Kentucky State Police at Ashland said. Robert Williams, 46, of Greenup, was traveling south on the parkway in a 1984 Mack dump truck. Sherman Stewart, 61, of Argillite, was traveling on Turkey Lick Road in a 1996 Lincoln and apparently pulled onto the parkway and struck the vehicle of Williams, the KSP said.

Stewart was pronounced dead at the scene by Greenup County Coroner Neil Wright. Multiple agencies responded to the wreck, including Little Sandy Fire Department, Greenup EMS, and Greenup County Emergency Management. It did not appear Stewart was wearing a seat belt, the KSPā€ˆsaid.

There was no word on whether Williams was injured.

Both lanes of the parkway were shut down for several hours following the collision.
