Thief nabs Jesus from church’s nativity

The following information was taken from Ashland Police Department reports:
Theft
—A resident near St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1320 Bath Ave., reported on Christmas day a sport-utility vehicle pulled up in front of the church and someone got out and removed the Baby Jesus figure from the church’s nativity scene.
The value of the figure was not listed in the police report.
—A woman living in Bruce Apartments reported Thursday the theft an electronic item valued at $350.
—A Flatwoods woman reported Wednesday someone stole her purse out of her vehicle in the 300 block of Ninth Street.
—A woman living in the 2800 block of Forest Avenue reported Wednesday her purse was stolen from her vehicle.
—A man living in the 4800 block of Williams Avenue reported Tuesday the theft of an unspecified item valued at $75.
—A man living in the 700 block of Ninth Street reported Wednesday the theft of unspecified items valued at $379.
Burglary
—A woman living in the 1700 block of Donna Court reported Friday someone had broken into her residence and stolen computer equipment valued at $900.
—A woman living in the 3300 block of Roberts Drive reported Wednesday someone broke into her home and stole jewelry and prescription Vicodin, with a combined value of $400.
—A woman living in the 1900 block of Weymouth Drive reported Wednesday her purse and articles of clothing, worth an estimated $418, were stolen in a burglary at her home.
Shoplifting
—A Flatwoods woman was arrested Wednesday for allegedly trying to steal items valued at $199.18 from Wal-Mart. The suspect also was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Travis J. Gabehart of Franklin Furnace was arrested Wednesday at Wal-Mart on a felony theft charge after he was caught allegedly trying to steal merchandise valued at $418.
—A Catlettsburg man and an Ashland man were arrested Wednesday in separate shoplifting incidents at Belk in the Ashland Town Center. The suspects allegedly tried to steal merchandise valued at $192 and $98, respectively.
—A Grayson man was arrested Tuesday at Wal-Mart for allegedly trying to steal items valued at $35.
Criminal mischief
—Shelter of Hope, 2944 Winchester Ave., reported Tuesday vandals had done an estimated $800 damage to the building.
