Recyling fundraiser benefits shelter

Members of the Lawrence County Humane Society have been earning free cash for the animal shelter by participating in the Recycle Rewards Business Support Program.
They collect used cell phones, along with empty inkjet and laser printer cartridges, from the community and send them to Recycle Rewards in exchange for cash.
Most who have upgraded or renewed phone plans also get new phones. Instead of giving a used cell phone to the cellular company, the Lawrence group asks for the donations.
Companies interested in demonstrating a commitment to animal welfare and the environment can participate in the program.
Recycle Rewards will send each supporting business free, postage-paid shipping boxes for the return of collected cartridges and cell phones.
Businesses can help the Lawrence group continue such programs as spay/neuter, fostering, humane education, adoption and the Senior Adoption Program.
Community and business supporters can also drop off cartridges and cell phones at the following locations: Big Sandy Urology in the Three Rivers Hospital Complex, the Lawrence County judge-executive’s office in the third-floor courtroom in the courthouse or the State Farm office at 201 N. Main Cross in Louisa.
