Crabb Revival to sing Friday

Tim Preston

ASHLAND Building on a foundation of family music and ministry, members of Crabb Revival will bring their new message and songs to Unity Baptist Church in Ashland for a free 7 p.m. performance Friday.

Many gospel music fans wondered what would happen following the disbanding of the Crabb Family in 2007 after a dozen years of providing inspiration to audiences around the world. Adam Crabb, however, had no intention of abandoning his musical ministry and enlisted the talents of his sister, Terah, as well as two former members of the Crabb Family (Zach Smith and Micah Schweinsberg) to continue spreading God’s message.

A few changes have been made since the first effort to form a new band, although the group, now known as Crabb Revival, has found new audiences following the 2008 release of its first release “Runaway Train.”

“Our goal is to reach our generation,” said Crabb. “We are praying for bigger doors to open and more opportunities to reach them with the gospel than ever before.

Guitarist Zach Smith said the group brings a contemporary feel with traditional inspiration.

“The cool thing is though, we love to play and our concerts are high-energy. We are not just a jam band,” Smith said. “We use the talents God gave us as tools to worship, praise and lift up his name.”

Members of Crabb Revival, which has been nominated for a Dove Award and earned awards for individual talents as well as their collaborative efforts, say their ambition is not to earn professional recognition, but to help lead people to Christ.
