Application process for heating assistance will begin Nov. 2

Olive Hill — Subsidies for home energy costs will be available this winter for families meeting certain income guidelines.

Northeast Kentucky Community Action Agency will take applications starting Nov. 2 for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.

Applications must be made between Nov. 2 and Dec. 11 and will be taken in alphabetical order based on the first letter of the head of household’s name, in the following order: Nov. 2 — A; Nov. 4 — B; Nov. 5 — B; Nov. 9 — C; Nov. 10 — C; Nov. 12 — D, E; Nov. 16 — F, G; Nov. 17 — H; Nov. 18 — H; Nov. 19 — IJ; Nov. 23 — KL; Nov. 24 — M; Nov. 30 — M; Dec. 1 — N, O, P; Dec. 2 — Q, R; Dec. 3 — S; Dec. 7 — S; Dec. 8 — T; Dec. 9 — U, V, W; Dec. 10 — X, Y, Z; Dec. 11 — Open.

A household reporting no income and not receiving food stamps must complete the zero income form.

Applicants must bring their most recent heating bill or verification that heating expenses are included in the rent, Social Security numbers for all household residents, proof of income for the preceding month for all household residents, and a recent utility bill with 911 address for proof of residence.

Applicants unable to apply for themselves may send a designated representative to apply for them. If the representative is not the head of household or spouse, he or she must have a signed statement giving authorization to apply.

Only one person from each household may apply.

Income eligibility guidelines, based on gross monthly income and the number of residents per household, include: one person — $1,174; two persons — $1,579; three persons — $1,984; four persons — $2,389; five persons — $2,794; six persons — $3,200; seven persons — $3,605; eight persons — $4,010; for each additional member at $406 to the income limit.

Northeast also is seeking vendors for the program. Needed are wood, coal, fuel oil, propane and kerosene vendors in Boyd, Greenup, Carter, Elliott and Lawrence counties.
