KSP drug roundup results in 15 arrests

Kenneth Hart/The Independent

Ashland Kentucky State Police on Wednesday arrested 15 in a roundup of suspected drug dealers in Boyd and Carter counties.

Most of the arrests were for trafficking in prescription drugs. However, one of the suspects was charged with cocaine trafficking, according to a news release from the Ashland KSP post.

The suspects all were lodged in local jails, the KSP said.

The arrests were the result of a year-long investigation into illegal narcotics trafficking that resulted in the Boyd and Carter grand juries returning indictments against 28 suspects, the KSP said.

Seven additional charges were discovered by troopers while serving the warrants.

The others charged in the probe are still being sought, the KSP said.

‰Janie Simmons, 47, of Grayson, charged with three counts of trafficking in controlled substances.
