2 men charged in beating death
MOREHEAD - Two men are charged with murder in the Monday beating of a Morehead man, who dies Thursday, according to the Morehead post of the Kentucky State Police.
Michael A. Sparks of Middletown, Ohio, and Herbert Sparks of Morehead face the charges in the death of Eddie J. Robinson of Morehead, police said.
Police said they found Robinson unconscious when they went to his residence to break up a fight. They said they believe Michael Sparks beat Robinson into unconsciousness. They arrested both Sparks men on assault charges and amended the charges to murder after Robinson died at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
Lawrence resets homecoming date
LOUISA - Lawrence County’s homecoming date and festivities, originally scheduled for Sept. 19, have been changed to Oct. 24.
Lawrence County will play Greenup County. The date was changed because of the testing window for Lawrence County students.
Democrat club to meet Tuesday
ASHLAND - The Boyd County Democratic Woman’s Club will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Ponderosa Steak House on Martin L. King Jr. Blvd.
The agenda will be the candidates for commissioner and mayor.
Open house at Blazer Monday
ASHLAND - Paul G. Blazer High School will have its annual open house for parents and guardians from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday.
Parents should bring their child’s schedule and meet in the gymnasium at 6:30 for a brief introduction, followed by an abbreviated 7-period schedule allowing parents to meet with their children’s teachers. Light refreshments will be provided by CATS Catering in the gym lobby at the end of the evening.
