Septemberfest this weekend in Louisa

Rising country music star Heidi Newfield will entertain the thousands expected in Louisa this weekend for the annual Septemberfest celebration.
Newfield, whose song “Johnny & June” has been commanding increasing attention nationwide, will headline the Saturday show following performances by Aaron Holley and Shawn Cabell. The concert will begin at 5:30 p.m. with Sandy Valley Grass, the winner of this year’s Coal Miner’s Bluegrass festival competition.
Friday’s entertainment will get under way at 6 p.m., following opening ceremonies, with performances by Luna, The Chase and America’s Premier Variety Show Band, Rick K. & the Allnighters.
The festival parade, which is set to follow the traditional route through downtown Louisa, will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, with entries required to be in place and decorated at the staging area no later than 10:30. The festival’s 19th annual car show will be Saturday at Louisa West Elementary School, with registration from 9 a.m. to noon. New to this year’s festival, a model car show will be hosted by Bob and Peggy Cantrell. For more information, call (606) 638-4370.
The theme of this year’s festival is “Bulldog Pride.” There will be multiple drawings for various items throughout the event. Registration for the drawings will be at the information booth.
