Several thefts reported to APD

The following information was taken from Ashland Police Department reports:
Theft
—Riggs Machine Shop, 3850 Belford St., Friday reported the theft of a piece of construction equipment valued at $4,596.
—Plumbers & Steamfitters Local No. 248, 924 Greenup Ave., Monday reported the theft of an unspecified item valued at $500.
—A Greenup woman reported Saturday her purse, computer equipment and other items, all valued at $702, were stolen from her vehicle while it was parked at Ashland Town Center.
—An Ironton woman reported Friday her purse, the contents of which were valued at $1,100, was stolen from her car while it was parked at Town Center.
Drugs, assault
—A Lewis County man was arrested Friday on drug and assault charges following an incident at a location on Winchester Avenue.
Elvis Rister of Garrison was charged with third-degree assault on a police officer and second-offense third-degree trafficking, both felonies; and possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana, both misdemeanors.
Police seized OxyContin and marijuana from the suspect, according to records.
Burglary
—Ashland Inn, 3020 Winchester Ave., reported Monday an unspecified item valued at $3,200 had been stolen in a burglary.
—A man living in the 4400 block of Southview Road reported Saturday someone had broken into his house and stolen cash and other items, all valued at $4,300.
—A woman living in the 2500 block of Joel Street reported Saturday electronics and other items, all valued at $900, were stolen in a break-in at her residence.
Shoplifting
—Advance Auto Parts, 621 Winchester Ave., on Sunday reported the theft of merchandise valued at $98.88.
