Ashland Starbucks safe for now
ASHLAND - Area Starbucks enthusiasts will be pleased to learn the Ashland location is not included among the 600 stores the company has decided to close.
Starbucks officials have announced they will be closing six locations in Kentucky. Stores on the chopping block are in Danville, Lexington, Paris, Somerset and Louisville, where two locations are on the closure list, according to report by The Associated Press.
The company also announced its intention to close nine locations in Ohio.

Boyd schools plan Jumpstarts
ASHLAND - The Boyd County Family Resource Centers East/West will sponsor Kindergarten Jumpstarts at each elementary school.
Children and parents are encouraged to attend the program from 9 to 11:15 a.m.
Tuesday — Catlettsburg Elementary
Wednesday — Ponderosa Elementary
Thursday — Summit Elementary
Wednesday — Cannonsburg Elementary.

Fire department seeks rummage
WEBBVILLE - The Webbville Volunteer Fire Department is seeking donations for a yard sale.
Items may be dropped off at the fire department, the East Bus Garage (Carter County) or the West Bus Garage (Olive Hill) until July 30.
Items too big to haul will be picked up by calling Candy Webb at (606) 652-9110.
