Chiropractor offers free care for vets
By TIM PRESTON - The Independent
ASHLAND —
Local veterans and active duty military personnel interested in chiropractic care will be able to do so with no out-of-pocket expense until the next Fourth of July.
“This is for all veterans, disabled or nondisabled,” said Dr. Jeremiah Holmes at Holmes Chiropractic on Central Avenue in Ashland.
The project, called Operation Share the Wellness, is an effort by Chiro One Wellness Centers aimed at supporting America’s newest returning veterans with immediate access to chiropractic services. COWC offices are extending the yearlong offer of care to any U.S. military veteran returning from overseas deployment in Afghanistan and Iraq, at no charge at their 24 Chicagoland and Kentucky area clinics. Holmes said the offer is further extended to any veteran regardless of when they served.
The local chiropractic office has already started working with two veterans, one with neck problems and the other with back pain, since the program began on July 4, 2007, Holmes said, although it expects to see many more as word of the offer spreads.
Holmes said he is trying to avoid labeling the program as “free of charge” since some insurance benefits may be used for individual treatment, but it will be free for any veterans who participate.
“They will have no out-of-pocket expenses for the entire year,” he said.
“We are proud to provide Operation Share the Wellness to our great country’s military personnel,” said Brett Penager of Chiro One Wellness Centers. “Chiro One is committed to our vision that ‘Every human being discovers their full potential’ and feels a deep sense of pride and honor to support our troops that are serving in the armed forces. We are acutely aware of the stress and pressure that they experience defending our nation and want to do our part to make sure they are provided the opportunity to experience extraordinary wellness through chiropractic care.”
Holmes said veterans interested in the chiropractic service are asked to call the office at (606) 326-1132 to make an appointment.
