The following information was taken from Ashland Police Department reports:
Burglary
‰Police arrested a man on burglary and other charges following an incident on Thursday at Scope Towers.
Darrell L. Smith Jr. of the 2300 block of Winchester Avenue was charged with first-degree burglary, third-degree assault, resisting arrest and carrying a concealed deadly weapon, according to records. He was lodged in the Boyd County Detention Center.
Smith was armed with a “lethal cutting instrument,” police said.
‰A man and a woman were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly burglarizing a woman’s home in the 2100 block of Thomas Street.
Michael Wheeler and Melissa L. Wheeler of the 2300 block of Auburn Avenue were lodged in the Boyd County Detention Center, charged with second-degree burglary.
Items taken in the break-in were recovered.
A man living in the 2700 block of Carter Avenue reported Wednesday that an unspecified item valued at $1,000 had been stolen in a burglary at his home.
‰A man living in the 3200 block of Lorraine Street reported Tuesday that an unspecified item valued at $65 was taken in a break-in at his home.
Robbery
A man who allegedly tried to shoplift an item valued at $7.50 from Wal-Mart wound up being arrested on a robbery charge Tuesday.
Anthony D. Hulett of Greenup was lodged in the Boyd County Detention Center on a second-degree robbery charge.
Under Kentucky law, anyone who uses or threatens to use physical force during the commission of a theft can be charged with robbery.
Theft
An Ashland woman reported Thursday that her purse was stolen from her vehicle while it was parked at Ashland Town Center.
The manager of Applebee’s, 500 Armco Road, reported Thursday a server’s ticket book, which had $200 cash in it, had been stolen.
An Ashland man reported Thursday that his wallet was stolen at the Boyd County Public Library Main Branch, 1740 Central Ave.
A woman living in the 3100 block of Carter Avenue on Thursday reported the theft of $330 cash.
A man living in the 2300 block of Winchester Avenue on Wednesday reported the theft of $100 cash.
WTSF-TV, 3100 Bath Ave., on Wednesday reported the theft of an unspecified item valued at $750.
ABoyd County man reported Tuesday that someone stole the license plate from his vehicle while it was parked in the 3100 block of Carter Avenue.
A woman living in the 2900 block of Bath Avenue reported Tuesday that computer equipment valued at $350 was stolen out of her car, and that the vehicle’s license plate was also removed.
Shoplifting
‰A man was arrested Thursday at Wal-Mart after he allegedly tried to steal merchandise valued at $77.78. There was no address listed for the suspect.
An Ashland woman was arrested Tuesday at Wal-Mart for allegedly trying to steal items valued at $25.60.
