Gate City council to meet Thursday
CATLETTSBURG - The Catlettsburg City Council will have a special meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at city hall.
The agenda is:
First reading of an amended occupational tax ordinance.
First reading of an amended pay classification ordinance.
First reading of a temporary auto sales ordinance.
Boil-water advisory issued in Raceland
RACELAND
The city has issued a boil-water advisory for customers on Bryan Layne, Bryan Drive, Hardin Lane and Markin Court.
Residents are advised to boil cooking and drinking water.
>b>Memorial ride will be Sunday
ASHLAND -The inaugural Memorial Ride for Fallen Rider Ryan Chapman will be at 1 p.m. Sunday.
Registration will begin at noon.
The entry fee is $5. Proceeds will benefit the trust fund for Chapman’s five daughters.
The ride will begin in Central Park, travel U.S. 23 to the Greenup Locks and Dam, cross into Ohio and go down U.S. 52 to the Cold Spot, where there will be 10 minutes of silence in memory of Chapman.
Immediately after the ride there will be a benefit at South Point Park. Proceeds from that will also benefit the trust fund.
Chapman, who was employed at Ashland Cycle Center, was killed on his motorcycle in Lawrence County, Ohio, on July 10 of last year.
Church to have Christmas in July
ASHLAND - The United Methodist Women of First United Methodist Church will have Christmas in July from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church fellowship hall, 1811 Carter Ave.
There will be a variety of arts and crafts for sale, along with homemade baked goods. Admission is $2.
