There is still time for people with things to sell to get in on the first “U.S. 23 Country Music Highway Yard Sale,” along the road from Greenup to Letcher County.
The yard sale event will be in business from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
In Greenup County, yard sale locations have been established at the McConnell House in Wurtland; at Raceland City Park, and at the field by the Best Western in Russell as well as at several homes and businesses off of U.S. 23.
In Boyd County, local non-commercial vendors can bring their items to locations at the grassy area in front of Sargent’s Tires; the intersection of Hood’s Creek and U.S. 23; the back parking lot behind Ashland’s transportation center (enter through the floodwall at 13th of 15th streets); and at the Boyd County Extension Center in Catlettsburg.
The yard sale locations are expected to be well marked with balloons, signs and banners, according to organizers.
Individuals, school boosters, churches, and any civic groups are welcome to secure locations with permission from property owners. Property owners who have property available for vendors are asked to contact their local Tourism Commission.
No yard sale setups can be made on state right-of-way property. For additional information about the yard sale event call your local tourism office or (800) 844-4704.
“Have a safe event and welcome all shoppers with warm eastern Kentucky hospitality,” Floyd County Tourism Director Fred James said.
