A patriotic Memorial Day program will take place at 5 p.m. Monday in Central Park at the bandstand.
The program will salute all veterans, both fallen and living.
The music theme will also be patriotic and will include selections from Stephen Salyers, accompanied by Larry Deerfield and Phil Osborne; Bronson Bush of Raceland along with Youngblood (Isaac Stevens, Levi Ausmus and Atul Shastry).
“We just wanted to do something for the community on this special holiday,” said Sean Murray, the city recreation director. “It’ll be a way for everybody to salute the veterans and remember and honor those who have died.”
It’s recommended patrons bring lawn chairs. The park’s concession stands will be open.
The event is being sponsored by the City of Ashland and the Recreation Department and friends of the event — Ashland Area Convention & Visitor’s Bureau, Clear Channel, Steen Funeral Homes, Ashland Plaza Hotel, AMVETS Post 95, the Rev. Jennifer Johnson and Michael Wurts.
“We hope people in the community come out and enjoy the evening and make some memories,” Murray said.
