Memorial Day celebration set
WURTLAND - There will be a Memorial Day celebration at 2 p.m. Sunday at the War Memorial on U.S. 23. Special guests are the Korean veterans.
State Rep. Tanya Pullin, D-South Shore, will be the guest speaker. Special music will be provided by Chase Hieneman, Cindy and Marty Stephens and Faye and Kevin Pistole.
Adoption Fair set for June 22 at MSU
MOREHEAD - The Kentucky Cabinet of Health and Family services has set an adoption fair from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. June 22 at the Morehead State University in the Adrian Doran Student Center.
The fair will feature 16 domestic and international adoption agencies available to answer questions about the adoption process. The event will also feature adoption workshops and a photo exhibit of children in Kentucky foster care taken by local photographers.
According to Bonnie Darnall, a special needs adoption coordinator with the CHFS, there are approximately 624 children in the foster care system across this region. There are more than 7,000 children in foster care in Kentucky.

One killed in Fleming accident
FLEMINGSBURG - A Flemingsburg man was killed early Wednesday when his car wrecked on Ky. 11 in Fleming County, according to the Morehead post of the Kentucky State Police.
Joe R. Duncan, 32, died after he lost control of the car, which went airborne and hit an embankment, according to police.
A passenger, Tanesha Duncan, 20, was injured and flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
