Man nabbed for theft at Kyova
CANNONSBURG - Police arrested a 24-year-old Summit man on Saturday for allegedly stealing items out of vehicles parked at the Kyova Mall.
According to the Boyd County Sheriff’s Department, Stephen E. McGinnis was arrested for theft by unlawful taking over $300 after he was observed taking items from parked vehicles at the mall. He was lodged in the Boyd County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash bond.
McGinnis fled the scene but was later arrested by Deputy Brian Knipp in front of Rajah’s restaurant. Police found stolen items in the rental car McGinnis was operating that was parked in the Kyova Mall lot.
An investigation is ongoing by Deputy R. Riffe.
Trafficking arrest has Florida link
SUMMIT - Boyd County Sheriff’s Department deputies interrupted a drug deal in progress Sunday evening at a Boyd County home.
Roger D. Salyers Jr., 35, is facing numerous drug charges stemming from the raid on his home in the 6600 block of Ky. 5 that netted police cash and prescription medications. Salyers, who was lodged in the Boyd County Detention Center, is facing first- and third-degree trafficking in controlled substance charges. He was also charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and tampering with physical evidence. His bond was set at $50,000.
According to police, medications seized from the residence had ties to Florida. At least two other drug cases in recent weeks have also had links to the Sunshine State.
Deputies also gathered witness statements during the arrest that confirmed drug trafficking was taking place at Salyers’ residence, they said..
Housing authority meeting canceled
CATLETTSBURG -The Housing Authority of Catlettsburg’s Board of Commissioners has canceled its regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday.
