Miracle Mile set for Saturday
ASHLAND - GBS/CIDP Foundation International will have its three-mile walk-a-thon, or Miracle Mile, at 8 a.m. Saturday at Central Park.
The foundation works to raise funds and awareness for Guilliam-Barre syndrome and chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy.
This month is awareness month for the organization.

Christian rock concert Friday
ASHLAND - The AWAKE Project will host Christian rock band Seventh Day Slumber in concert along with Last Day and Casting Pearls on Friday at Boyd County Middle School.
Tickets are $3 and doors open at 6 p.m., with the show beginning shortly before 7.

Voting locations switched for 2
CATLETTSBURG -The Boyd County Board of Elections has moved the polling location for the Central and Deboard-Tannery precincts to the First United Methodist Church Activity Center at the corner of 19th Street and Carter Avenue.
The precincts; previous polling location was the National Guard Armory on Lexington Avenue.

Fire hydrants will be flushed in May
ASHLAND - The Ashland Fire Department will be flushing fire hydrants in the city during the month of May.
There will be reduced pressure and discoloration of water at times during the month.
Registration dates set for Lawrence school district
LOUISA - Lawrence County School District will conduct registration and screenings for the 2008-09 school year on the following dates.
Blaine Elementary from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 17 for preschool and kindergarten; Louisa Early Learning Center from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 20 and 21 for preschool and Head Start; Louisa West Elementary, for kindergarten and Head Start, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. May 22 (last names beginning with A-L) and from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. May 23 (last names beginning with M-Z); and Fallsburg Elementary from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. May 31 for preschool and kindergarten.
