Tom T. Hall concert nearly sold out
Festivities May 17 at Olive Hill High School

Olive Hill —
With less than two weeks remaining before the show, few tickets remain for Tom T. Hall’s Homecoming on the Hill at the historic Olive Hill High School.
“I’m not certain exactly how many tickets we have left. All of the floor seats are sold,” said Diane Baker Harman, one of several Olive Hill residents organizing the May 17 festivities.
As of Monday afternoon, less than 100 upper-level tickets are still available and the show is expected to attract a capacity crowd. The remaining tickets are being sold for $20 each at Commercial Bank of Olive Hill.
With a country music legend to anchor the evening show, organizers say they are quite proud of the list of entertainers for the day, many who will also be playing during the afternoon Homecoming on the Hill Art Fair at 10 a.m.
“It is a big program,” Harman said, listing the singers and instrumentalists for the day and evening shows. The art fair, also in the old high school gym, kicks off with dancing by members of the Heritage Hoedowners. Olive Hill singer and guitarist Sasha Collette will perform Americana-style songs at 11 a.m. with guest musician Rob McNurlin, followed by vocalist Whitney Dyer, whose family has many ties to Carter County history, at 11:30.
Bluegrass musicians Marvin Carroll, Ron Evans and Gary Jones, perhaps best known for performances with the late Darvin Sturgill, will play at 11:45, followed by singer and keyboard player Jane Sewell Bradford at 12:15 and vocalist Anna Curtis at 12:45. The Backporch Pickers will provide storytelling and traditional music starting at 1 p.m., and the afternoon’s music will conclude with an open jam session led by Scott Tackett and Gary Molton at 1:30.
Admission to the art fair, which includes demonstrations, exhibits and vendors is $2. The art fair will also feature exhibits related to Olive Hill’s aviation, railroad and genealogical history.
For the Homecoming on the Hill concert at 7 p.m., the show will begin with a set by Sasha Collette and Rob McNurlin, and continue with songs by Scott Tackett and Kentucky Sunrise, George Molton, Angela Knight, Anna Curtis, Hannah Bradford, Laurel Branch, Don Rigsby and Midnight Call, and a spotlight performance by Olive Hill’s own Tom T. Hall. Morehead State University President Dr. Wayne Andrews will serve as master of ceremonies for the concert.
