Author to speak after Boyd library friends meeting
Ashland —
The Boyd County Public Library Friends will host Kentucky author William Lynwood Montell following the annual meeting on Tuesday at the main branch, 1740 Winchester Ave.
Montell, an oral historian and emeritus professor of folk studies at Western Kentucky University, will read from his latest book, “Tales from Kentucky Doctors.” He will speak at 7 p.m. and sign books after the presentation. Refreshments will be served.
Montell’s book is a collection of memoirs from Kentucky’s medical providers, ranging from humorous to heartwarming to tragic. A special invitation has been extended to local doctors, especially Ashland’s Dr. Loren Ledford, who is profiled in the book.
The annual meeting will be at 6 p.m. Friends members help at various library programs and conduct fundraisers.
