Trooper seeks info on drug trafficking

ASHLAND - A Kentucky State Police trooper is appealing to the public for assistance in curtailing illegal prescription drug trafficking in northeastern Kentucky.

Trooper Shawn Podunavac, a canine officer working primarily in the Ashland KSP post district — Boyd, Carter, Greenup and Lawrence counties — said Wednesday he was urging area residents to contact him with information about suspected drug activity.

Podunavac said tips may be may be relayed directly to him by calling (606) 776-9591.

Callers can remain anonymous, and all information will be kept completely confidential, Podunavac said.

He said callers that reach his voice mail should leave detailed messages with their information in them. Messages will be checked regularly, Podunavac said.

Internet safety program set

SUMMIT - Boyd County Middle School will host a free Internet safety program from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Topics will include cyber-bullying, sexual predators, dangers of social networking sites, piracy, and recognition and reporting of destructive or unlawful behavior.

McConnell House seeks sale items

WURTlAND - The McConnell House will be participating in the Country Music Highway yard sale, and sale items are being sought.

Items should be in good condition and will not be returned. Clothes will not be taken.

Those wishing to donate items can bring them to the house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 17 at the house. Proceeds will benefit restoration projects at the McConnell House.

RACELAND - The Campbell Elementary School board council will meet in special session today at the school about the textbook plan.
