Local fans of pedal power will have a chance to get together for a weekly cruise through the city of Ashland starting Saturday.
Ashland City Commissioner Cheryl Spriggs said she is organizing the weekly “informal bike ride through downtown Ashland.
“The ride will be every Saturday unless it is raining, or snowing, or whatever! We will meet at Starbucks to ride at 10 a.m. This time will be earlier once the weather gets warmer, whether there are three or 300 participants,” Spriggs said this week.
The city official said the eco-friendly tours will have many benefits for participants as well as the city itself.
“This will bring attention to bicycle traffic in Ashland, our fledgling recreational trails program and health benefits of riding a bicycle,” Spriggs said. “I want the folks in Ashland to come have fun and realize the benefits of cycling also include savings on gasoline.”
