An upcoming drug education rally at Central Park is “for anybody and everybody,” according to Boyd County Deputy Jailer Mark Ratliff, who hopes the event will also be a resource tool for any families dealing with substance abuse concerns.
The April 5 “FED UP” rally will focus on anti-drug education and resources, with entertainment, food, activities and guest speakers, including State Rep. Rocky Adkins, State Sen. Walter Blevins, Jailer Joe Burchett, Ashland Mayor Steve Gilmore, Boyd County Judge-Executive Bud Stevens, Desi Brooks of the Kentucky Department of Corrections, and representatives of Boyd County Drug Court, the Catlettsburg Police Department and Ashland Police Department, as well as Boyd County Coroner Chris Stewart.
Ratliff said several substance abuse and rehabilitation agencies have been invited to share information with interested individuals during the anti-drug event. “FED UP” stands for Family Education of Drug Use Prevention, Ratliff said.
Along with food and inflatables, entertainment will be provided by musicians Rob McNurlin, The Conners and The James Gang. The event will begin at noon.
