Sweet program at library
Boyd County Public Library will offer a chance to make Valentine’s Day special with homemade sweet treats.
Sweets for your Sweetie, a time to sample sweet recipes and share some of your own, will be at 6 p.m. Monday at the main branch of the library, 1740 Central Ave.
This program is for adults. No advance registration is needed. For more information, call Amanda Clark at (606) 329-0518, ext. 1140.
Participants will get recipes to take home. If you have some to share, please bring them and the library will make copies.
Program matches readers, books
February is Blind Date with a Book Month at Boyd County Public Library and the library is offering a program to pair readers and book.
During February, the library will have a display of books wrapped in brown paper at the main and Kyova branches. Participants won’t know what book it is until it’s checked out and unwrapped.
Participants will have 21 days and one renewal, if necessary.
When finished readers fill out the Rate Your Date slip found inside the book and drop it off at the library. Each form enters the reader into a drawing for a real date — dinner and a movie for two. Patrons can go on an unlimited number of “blind dates” during the month.
Library will have bingo month
Boyd County Public Library patrons may win prizes playing bingo in February.
Participants may pick up a game card at any public service desk. The cards are filled with simple library tasks, like “attend a library program” or “request an Interlibrary Loan.” There also are squares that involve checking out or downloading specific materials.
When you “bingo!” (mark off five squares in a row) you may select a prize.
Library Bingo will run through Feb. 28. Prizes include pencils, pens, magnets, key chains and other items.
