Elliott County festival events announced

SANDY HOOK — The 2013 Elliott County Heritage Festival is set to get under way next week, with a wide range of activities.

Friday will be pageants for those birth to 8 years old. The pageants continue Saturday with events for those 9 to seniors in high school.

Applications will be accepted for exhibit from 1 to 7 p.m. Aug. 27 and 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 28 at Elliott County High School’s old gym.

The remaining schedule is:

Aug. 29

3:30 p.m. — 4-H Livestock Show and Auction, Elliott County Extension Office.

Aug. 30

4 p.m. — Kickoff for the fair, with carnival games, inflatables, rides, Sandy Hook City Park; exhibits at old gym.

5 p.m. — Car and bike show, parking lot behind court house.

5 p.m. — Bill Robinson and Cloggers.

5:45 p.m. — The East Kentucky Blue.

6:20 p.m. — Velvet Blue.

7:45 p.m. — Billie Renee and Cumberland Gap.

9:20 p.m. — The Clay Hess Band.

10:50 p.m. — Sammy Adkins and the Sandy Hook Mountain Boys.

Aug. 31

8 a.m. — Second annual Heritage Festival 5K run/walk, Laurel Gorge Cultural Center.

10 a.m. — Elliott County Schools Spelling Bee and ariety Show.

Fair exhibits in old gym.

11 a.m. — Parade registration, new gym parking lot.

Noon — Pactolous Pony Riders.

1 p.m. — Parade.

1:30 p.m. — Sandy Hook City Park Entertainment, meet and greet with Batman, Batgirl and Spiderman.

Face painting, carnival rides, dunking booth, inflatables and rides.

2 p.m. — Coca-Cola Talent Classic.

3 p.m. — Jericho the Clown, city park.

3 p.m. — Amber’s Angels Cloggers.

4 p.m. — Hammertowne.

5 p.m. — George Molton.

6:45 p.m. — Another Round.

8:30 p.m. — Johnie Lewis and Second Set.

10:15 p.m. — Dustin Burchett and Southern Ground.

Sept. 1

11 a.m. — horse show registration, Shriner’s Park.

1 p.m. — Horse show.

5 p.m. — Gospel sing, performing arts center.

Sept. 7

10 a.m. — cook off, farmers market shelter.
