SOMC to host golf tourney
PORTSMOUTH - Southern Ohio Medical Center will host the 28th annual LIFE Center Invitational Golf Tournament June 14 at the Elks Country Club.
Proceeds from the tournament will go to the SOMC Foundation to enhance services provided by SOMC.
The tournament will begin at 8:30 a.m., with a barbecue lunch planned for 1 to 3 p.m. Door and raffle prizes will be awarded.

Book signing for local author
HUNTINGTON - Sheila Redling will sign copies and have a brief reading from her new book, “Damocles,” at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Huntington Museum of Art’s Museum Shop.
“Damocles” follows a group of humans as it travels through space and makes contact with an extraterrestrial planet, which has a different language and look, but strikingly similar society to Earth’s.
Redling is a graduate of Georgetown University, and hosted the morning program on WKEE-FM in Huntington for 15 years.
Redling’s third book, “The Widow File,” is set for release in November, and she is working on its sequel.

McKell library offers program
SOUTH SHORE - The McKell branch of the Greenup County Public Library will offer the summer program “Dig into Reading” for children this summer.
The program will be Tuesdays starting June 18 and ending July 16. Ages 3 through 7 will meet from 10 to 11 a.m. Ages 8 through 12 will meet from 1 to 2 p.m.
