CANNONSBURG — Cancer survivor dinner May 10

CANNONSBURG - Boyd County Cancer Survivors will gather for a celebratory dinner at 6 p.m. May 10 at the Boyd County Community Center in Cannonsburg.

The Relay For Life Survivor Dinner is intended to honor and celebrate cancer survivors. Survivors gather for a dinner, music and entertainment; each survivor and a caregiver will enjoy a meal served by volunteers. Texas Roadhouse is providing the meal while Cannonsburg Wal-Mart will supply cake and other necessities.

Luminaria will be on sale that night to be used at the Luminaria Ceremony during the Relay for Life of Boyd County event May 17.

AARF fundraiser during First Friday

ASHLAND - The Ashland Animal Rescue Fund will have Westminster on Winchester during First Friday art walk events tonight.

Registration for the event, at 15th Street and Winchester Avenue, will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The show will start at 6:30.

Contests will include cutest costume (small and large), cutest mutt, diva dog, best trick, owner-dog lookalike, weiner race and best in show.

Vendors, including Sweet and Sassy Treats, will be present. A clown will  make balloon figures for children and AARF will provide a kissing booth.

Gallery to mark 10 years today

ASHLAND - The Upstairs Gallery will celebrate its 10th anniversary from 5:30 to 8 during tonight’s First Friday art walk.

The gallery, at 1428 Winchester Ave., will host a book signing by author Virginia Monti and her daughter, Andrea Monti Riffe.

Brian Brown and friends from Paintsville will provide music.

A drawing demonstration by Lisa Smith will be offered.

Featured artists will be Bill and Sally Salyers, whose work will be shown in the Thoroughbred in the Thoroughbred Agency directly below TUG.
